Hoping for some guidance. Recently had a routine physical. Long story short, about 2-3 years ago I noticed a couple small pearl colored bumps near the base of my penis shaft, right side near the scrotum. They never hurt nor bothered me. Anyway, the doctor took a look and told they looked like warts. He advised I come back next week to get them frozen off. I asked him a couple of questions and he advised that they are transmitted through sexual contact. Now, I have been with my wife for 4 years and married for the past 18 months. I have been completely monogamous since I have known my wife and I would bet my life that she has been faithful as well. Hoping to get some questions answered.
1. What are my health risks? Again, I have had these for quite awhile and didn't really even notice them. I read on the internet tonight that HPV is easily transmitted. Can I assume my wife has this as well? Also, what are the long term health risks?
2. Again, I have no doubt that my wife is 100% faithful and I know I have been as well. Is it possible to get genital warts in a monogamous relationship?
3. The doctor did a pretty cursory exam. Is it possible he mis-diagnosed.
I appreciate any guidance you can give me. My knowledge on this rudimentary at best. I need to tell my wife about this tomorrow. I'm unsure how she will take it so any advice on that would be helpful as well. Thanks.
