Been clean for 5 days now off vicodin and still cant sleep tried almost anything.

I was taking 20-30 vicodin es per day for about 2 years.  After seeing what it was doing to my body and my financial issues i decided to take control of my life and stop.  I have been off them for 5-6 days now and all wd's are gone with the exception of sleep.  I already have RLS and have had it for 20 years.  But now without the vicodin it has gotten 100 times worse.  I take Klonopin for the RLS.  I have read some blogs on here and starting taking melatonin, some kind of root thing that smells like something I would not want to ingest.  I have taken hot baths every night.  But nothing works.  I am going crazy.  It is not really a insomnia issue because i am tired my brain wants to sleep I lay down and for about 10 minutes I think I will fall asleep then the legs start going.  So i get up watch some tv take a walk get on my computer then try again. I do this over and over until about 4-5 in the am and then I fall asleep until my alarm goes off at 6:45 for my 11 hour work day.  Talk about beig a zombie at work.  I really don't know what to do. I will not go back to vicodin as easy as that would be to do.  But I have spent over $20,000 in the last 2 years on the stuff and i am sure my liver and stomach are about dead.  Any help would be great.

Do this breathing exercise and you will be able to sleep better. Allow 9 days for it to take effect.
Build up your timing gradually.If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Anulom Vilom –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril  
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril  
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs.You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

I think the Valerian is what smelled so bad, it kinds of smells like wet dog mixed with bad body odor. For me it didn't help with insomnia. Melatonin didn't help either. 25 mg. Seroquel is great for insomnia but it is an antipsychotic and those drugs you DO NOT fool around with. Maybe you could get an rx and take it just until your sleep pattern stabilizes. What is your daily clonazepam dose?
