How do I keep my DAD from a stroke?

Some of you have been through a stroke with your parents where there was no warning. My Dad has been told he could have a stroke and he's literally waiting for it to happen.

He has a lower brainstem clot in the vertebral artery in . I'm asking for any help on information that would prevent him from having a stroke. Does anyone know of a drug, a surgery, a remedy, a good Doctor in Atlanta,Ga.  ANYTHING pertinent would be a blessing.

If anyone was told they had a clot and still had a stroke I would appreciate you sharing with me any information. I'm thankful for any help.

p.s. I thought the other blog I wrote was to a neurologist...I don't suppose they answer questions anymore..

How has your dad been since he had the stroke last month? My mom had one Jan. 14 and she is 50. What changes have you noticed in him? Is he at the hospital or another facility?

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. I just don't want to even imagine what your going through. Please keep me informed on how he progresses. Did he have prior knowledge of his clot? Which artery? Again, my heart goes out to you. I'm so confused and looking for any help that may aid in my Dad's situation. The doctor has basicaly told him to go on with his life, nothing else. His vertebral artery is completely blocked on the right and 40% narrowed on the left. The doctor told us they won't get concerned until the left side is at 70%. blocked    ?????   I'm very sad that this is all we have to go on so I am looking for any help. Thanks so much.

Are they doing anything to dissolve your dad's clot?  My dad suffered a hemmorhagic stroke last month.  Have the doctors offered any suggestions to change diet, lower blood pressure, change eating habits or anything to decrease the risk of having a stroke?
