Short socks left mark on skin

So I've had a problem a few times where I wear ankle high socks and after a couple hours it leaves a mark (most often on the top of my ankle) but it tends to go away after a day. But about a month ago I went to bed with short socks on and when I woke up the top of my feet had a burning sensation, and seeing as I was half asleep I didn't pay much attention to it. Instead, I took the socks off and scratched the area that was burning with a lot of pressure and then I look down and see lines on the top of my ankle from the socks. It burned for an hour straight and felt even worse when I had to take a shower. Anyways the pain went away, but it is a month later and the red lines are STILL on the top of my ankle. They are not or have never been swolen. The only pain I felt is when I woke up that morning and scratched them. Thank you.
