Urinary tract infection

Why does my 13 year old have blood, protein and cells in her urine? She has had a fever for 4 days now.  The clinic does not know what is wrong with her. Further test are being done.

Try to keep her fever under control with over the counter pain medications(advil or tylenol) to lower the fever. If there is not improvement in a weeks time, take her back to the doctors to be looked at again.

The antibiotics is apo-sulfatrim DS.  I haven't heard  from the clinic since with the lab results.  So I continue to wait and see.  I don't know what the constant fever and chills she's having is all about.  It has been keeping her from school for days now.  Thanks for telling me not to worry but..it's my nature.

The anti-biotics should take care of the infection. Hopefully they gave her something other than amoxicillin because that anti-biotic takes a while to work and get rid of infections, but it does work. If an infection is not taken care of, with anti-biotics, it can spread, which is why I mentioned the kidneys. Though because she is being treated, it should not be anything to worry about. Make sure she takes all of the anti-biotics and she should be fine. Plus have her drink plenty of water and also cranberry juice.

She has been given antibiotics.  This is scary for me.  She is only 13, her kidneys?

Is she being treated for a UTI (given anti-biotics)? UTIs are bacteria growth in the bladder, causing an infection. If she still has problems, then her kidneys should be looked at.
