I had a total thyroidectomy in June 2014. I was 125 lbs at that time. Now, I am 180. I have so much water retention in my lower body, and I always look "puffy" and have cankles. It's not pitting edema, but it's definitely edema.
I am a competitive athlete and do 45 minutes of cardio (bike or run) every morning and weight train 60 for minutes 5 out of 7 days, without fail. My synthroid dose is 200 mcg/day. My diet is extremely clean and monitored at 1800-2000 calories/day. I'm 37. I feel miserable because I can't drop all this body fat that I have put on in the last 3 years. My doctor's response when I brought my concerns to him was "You don't look overweight to me. You should just eat less and move more."
My last TSH level was 0.4. Before that, on 175 mcg dose, it was 7.0
Any advice, besides 'find a new doctor'?
