TSH level query

I would appreciate if anybody could shed some light on some recent blood test results I have had. I went to the doc 3 months ago with hair thinning, otherwise fine - my T4 level was 9.1 and TSH 28. Having no other symptoms I decided to go the alternative route for a while (acupuncture etc.). Checked bloods just last week, T4 - 7.4 and TSH is >100. I feel fine and lead a busy life ( hair still thinning though) but needless to say I have started on the meds, Elthroxin 50micrograms. I am due to be tested in three weeks again and have made an appointment with an Endocrinologist.
The doctor seems to think there is a discrepency between the not so low T4 and the very high TSH, any thoughts on why this may be? Is there anything else I should be tested for?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Have you had  free t4 or is that a total t4? Free t4 is best.

I am amazed that you don't feel any worse!

Ask for a full thyroid panel- TSH, free t3, free t4 and antibodies. I'm sure the endo will want those anyway.

Good luck with the appt.

Hopefully the endo can help  you.  I'm glad you feel good though.  Lots of us on this site can have a TSH of 6 and feel horrible.  Me being one of them.  I'm new at all this so hopefully some of the more experienced will be able to help.
