Checking in after trip to the Endo

Hello to all. Just thought I would let you know about my trip to the Endo's office. Boy oh boy, I am so tired of doctors. After the horrible week I had last week I thought maybe just maybe I would get to the bottom of these. Hope springs eternal and all that jazz.. Let's see, I gained four pounds, which is depressing enough for me. the doctor is nice enough but he just told me how terrible my TSH was ( as if I didnt already know this information) and he asked me if I had tried different name brands and generic versions of thyroid medicines. He has now suggested we add a high blood pressure medicine to help me tolerate an increase in my thryoid medicines. The thought of adding another pill to mix with all the unknown effects it will have on me just scares me worse than feeling bad. BTW, I do not have high blood pressure, it is actually on the low side. So, I explained my concerns to him and he asked me what I wanted to do. Since when is expressing a real concern a bad thing? I have had some very bad reactions to medicines and I think they are passed out to freely without looking at the patients unique tolerance to medicines. I told I had no idea what to do I was just the patient with the problems. I did tell him I want some doctor to figure how all my medical issues overlap and how that may be adding to the problems. He then suggested I should consider a trip to Mayo. After we talked some more he decided he would recommend me for being seen there but in the mean time I am supposed to take the HBP medicine and try to increase my levoxiyl from .025 to .05. This should be fun. I also wanted to include to the people that responded to my post. I take my levoxiyl first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with a full glass of water. I do not eat for 2 hours afterwards. I take this alone . I do get a vitamin B injection once a month but I havent had one since December until last week after my labs were finished. I also take a multivitamin and calcium. I guess that sums it up. I am just as messed up today as I was a week ago....and how is everyone else doing??

Sounds like you made some headway on Mayo ... keep us posted and, yes I'd be hesitant to take HBP for absorption of thyroid or shall I say toleration of the med but I guess you hav to do something as you await an appt at Mayo.

How far away is Mayo?
I tried to get in there so very hard.

On the other hand, I talked to a shrink who said he used to work at Mayo. He said the Endo department was full of lazy so and so's.  LOL!!

I hope the new drug regimin works. I know what you mean about one more med to worry about, and blood pressure pills would make me nervous.

Sorry things aren't going better.

And I'm just as messed up as I was a week ago, only more depressed. Thanks for asking. :)
