Confused about test results

I was having headaches so the doctor did blood work since I the only time I've had any blood work was the normal tests they do when pregnant. Due to 1st results they repeated the blood work. If I'm reading the doctors sheet correctly it shows:
t-3 uptake 34%
t-4 total10.1 mcg/dL
Free t4 index   3.4
TSH  0.02

He said I was hyper and referred me to an endo.  This is a new to me. I looked online and I don't have the symptoms of a person with hyper. Infact, as far as the weight loss symptom - I'm over weight.  Would this mean the doc I go see will put me on med b/c I don't want to be on meds. Any advice?

When you go to see  your doctor, have him test your adrenals, too.  Get a DHEA and cortisol level done.

I have hypothyroidism and have a nearly constant headache. which is the opposite from you as you've been told your hyper. I think there is a degree of overlap between the symptoms of both conditions. Your TSH of 0.02 is really low (should be >0.4 & < 5) which does indicate hyperthyroidism. As for the weight loss issue, i've read on the bupa website that although most people with hyperthyroidism lose weight, 10% actually gain. The endo you see will want you to go on meds - most likely antithyroid tablets. I know what its like not to want to take meds as being the opposite - hypo- i need to take thyroxine. People who are hypo need to take these pills daily forever but with you being hyper you may not need to be on meds forever. Knowing that though might not help when your struggling with the idea of medication. The most important thing at the moment is to take it easy and not be hard on yourself.
