I am confused - my PCP called to tell me to schedule a follow up appointment because my cortisol lab test showed irregularities .  When I asked for a copy of the labs they seemed to be in normal range . I can't seem to find answers online and them I found this site.  Please help

You can view symptoms from the presentation to the doctor. And how they present to the patient. Also, doctors want to rule out critically serious stuff, before moving on to more likely things.

I had a doctor suggest once that my symptoms were because of a gall stone. So I talked to a friend that a gall stone pass and... yeah no no way I had a gall stone.

I just looked up Addisons and I don't think that is what I'm dealing with here.  Not sure why she would be looking for that but I guess it's better to look rather than just discount someone....

Good luck to you!

Hi Oillie,

Interesting because my Endo ran those same tests on me.  I believe she is ruling out Addison's Disease.  Not sure exactly what that is but that is what she mentioned....  I go for my follow-up tomorrow.  I have really low blood pressure too....

It's possible that your doctor is looking at where your levels fall within the ranges.  Your AM cortisol is right at the top of the range and your PM level is nearly on the floor.  Do you have a reference range for the noon one?

For what reason did your doctor feel you needed these tests?  Do you have symptoms of adrenal insufficiency?

What are the reference ranges for each of the different tests.  Reference ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report.

Were these blood, urine or saliva tests?
