Yes, FT4 stands for Free Thyroxine, and just because you're taking thyroxine doesn't mean your levels would have balanced yet.

It's best to do FT3 and FT4 at the same time TSH is done.

With your FT3 so high in the range, it's possible that you could actually be hyper, since FT3 is the hormone that's actually used by the cells and is the one that correlates with symptoms.

and regarding FT4, it Stands for Free Thyroxin right? i am taking Thyroxin tablets, so my FT4 would have balanced i guess. i dont know, anyways i will test FT3 and FT4 soon.Today i tested for TSH ,as told by my doctor. and it is 0.65...

You need to have Free T3 and Free T4 tested every time you have TSH.

I see that your FT4 was very low in the range, last time, while your FT3 was at the top of the range.  This could suggest another problem and it's important that they be tested.

TSH is a pituitary hormone and does not accurately reflect actual thyroid status.  TSH neither causes nor alleviates symptoms.  My TSH went to
< 0.01 as soon as I started on thyroid hormone med as well and never did come back up.

Had you gained any weight, prior to starting the med?  If so, the loss could have been simply what you'd gained and you lost it because you metabolism is back to normal; it may not be anything to worry about.  Do you have any other symptoms of being over medicated, such as diarrhea, fatigue (which applies to both hyper and hypo), etc?

i am taking thyroxin 50mcg, 1 month back when my TSH tested,it was 0.03,which is very below the normal range(0.4 - 4). she shoud have reduced my dose, but my doctor said, 50mcg is your dosage,so continue the same dose. i am worried that my TSH might have still gone low. because in just 20 days i lost 1.5 kg without any exercise nor dieting.i dont know what is the reason.

Your doctor is wrong about the FT3 and FT4 being "normal" just because TSH is normal.  TSH is a pituitary hormone and does not always reflect the status of actual thyroid hormones.

She IS right about not needing to retest TPOab, because once you have the antibodies, you always have them.  Simply adjusting TSH does not get rid of them.

The elevated TPOab indicates that you have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which is an autoimmune thyroid disease, in which the body sees the thyroid as foreign and produces antibodies to destroy it.  The antibodies only go into remission, when there is no more healthy thyroid tissue and you thyroid produces nothing on its own.

You do need to consult another doctor, because obviously this doctor is out of her realm.

You need to have FT3 and FT4 tested every time you have TSH tested.  It's not TSH that determines whether or not you will get pregnant and have a healthy baby; it's the levels of FT3 and FT4.

What medication are you on, what dosage?

hi babr135,
in september FT3 and FT4 with biological reference range are...

parameters    Observed Values       Biological Reference range
FT3                    6.06 pmol/L              3.1 - 6.8 pmol/L
FT4                   12.10 pmol/L             12 - 22 pmol/L
TPO antibodies are more than 600.

from then i was on medication, now my TSH is 0.03, and i have to test my TSH again next week. my doctor told me that once TSH comes to normal range, your FT3, FT4 and TPO antibodies will also be normal. she said no need to test them again.

and she told me that i can try for concieving now, with TSH 0.03 value (reference range for TSH here is 0.4 to 4) ,will it be possible to concieve?
Do i need to consult another doctor?

i am very eagerly waiting to concieve.i am 29yr old now.i left my job, since i may develop stress and it may effect in concieving.from june we are trying to concieve.in between i came to know that i am hypothyroid.now its been 4 months i am on medicine.so i am asking for help. help me. what should i do next. will i able to concieve if my TSH is below the reference range?

Is TSH the only test your doctor is ordering?  She should also be ordering Free T3 and Free T4 tests.  Those are the actual thyroid hormones and are much more important than TSH.

Just because your TSH is "not high", doesn't mean your thyroid levels are good or that it's okay to get pregnant, because adequate thyroid hormones are essential for the growth and development of a fetus.

Ask your doctor for the Free T3 and Free T4 tests and if she refuses, find another doctor asap, as this one will keep you ill.
