Feeling HYPER with generic Levothyroxine refill

Hello to everyone!  I just refilled my generic hypo med yesterday and took the first dose of the 50mcg dose this morning.  Shortly after, I noticed a bad headache, dizziness, nervousness, agitated, and feeling like I was coming out of my skin.  Have only been on the meds for 30 days and I was feeling GREAT on the first Rx bottle.  Get f/u labs drawn Oct 2 and my doc doesn't want to switch me to a brand name until I get those first labs drawn.
Has anyone experienced this and should I half my dose tomorrow?  I know it's not a good idea to "self dose", but I feel like my eyes are bugging out of my head...LOL!  Any advise from the panel would be appreciated.

I totally agree but also think that maybe you may be drug sensitive and may need your labs done 4 weekly instead of 6 weekly.

Also the range of dosages vary more with generics than name brand - so actually your script may be a tad off and your feeling the effects of that.

It's like a wallpaper SKU#. You want to stay with the same SKU to have a consistant pattern on your wall. Same applies to the ( for a better word?) SKU # on your scripts - you want that "consistancy" of meds to stay the same for your wellness.

Very Good advise and thank you.  I will call the pharmacy today to find out if the manufacturer is different and will proceed forward w/ the doctor after I get an answer.

My first suggestion would be to make sure the refill came from the same manufacturer as the original prescription.  Different drug companies use different fillers, and it's sometimes the fillers that wreak havoc with people.  You could call your pharmacist if you don't still have the information.

No, I would not half my dose.  That's way too big a jump, and you will probably end up feeling hypo again very soon.  You're just getting to the point where the meds have stabilized in your system.

If the manufacturer changed, I'd see if my pharmacy could order from the original lab.  If it hasn't, you might consider going in early for your bloodwork.  It could be that 50 mcg is too much for you and that it took this long for the meds to raise your FT3 and FT4 levels to a point where you became hyper.  Hyper symptoms are definitely a reason to give your doctor a nudge and get those labs done a bit early.
