Last year I mysteriously gained 40 lbs in 3 months despite a lifetime of being slim, eating low carb, and exercising like a "gym rat". I started out last May being Hypo and was put on Armour-only lost 4 lbs from that. More tests were run and found out that I have Adrenal Exhaustion as well as Hormonal Disorder, especially high cortisol levels. I was also given bioidentical hormones and lost 13 lbs from that in 2 mos. By the way, that time I was in Europe and every time I go there, I always lose weight despite eating rich foods that i don't normally eat like pizzas, pastas, prosciutto, breads, fish, etc. It seems like the only time I can really lose weight is when I'm in Europe where I'm the happiest I admit. About that, the hubby says it must be a "mind thing" with me. Now I have 20 last lbs to lose which don't seem to budge. I eat low carb, have exercised 12 hrs/week and the scale wouldn't budge, nor inches. My Doctor told me with my Adrenal exhaustion though, that I can't stress myself out more and recommended only yoga and walking. My husband thinks that because I'm so stressed out, worrying how to lose weight that that is what is blocking me. I guess with all my problems, I don't know what I should be focusing on...? My Doctor also thinks that the problem is is that my metabolic set point won't budge. I would appreciate any feedback on this?
