NO ANSWERS

Neuro told me I have hashimotos although my thyroid is fine (not over or under), I have many symptons of ms, but have had only clear and unchanged mri, and a negative L.P.
What I would like to know is does anyone else have thyroid problems and have numbness, burning, tingling, twitching, cold spots, etc?????????????????????????????

Hi Doc,

I had tingling, electric shock feeling in my hands and feet.  MRI was clear and Neuro said there was nothing neuro wrong with me.  I also have autoimmune thyroid and Vit. D deficiency and high normal calcium.  Taking 800 mb Vit D helped the tingling a little, adding Synthroid total elimanated it.  Make sure your Vit D and B12 are tested as well as your calcium serum and ionized are tested.  See and Endo - hopefully you will get some answers.

Yes had a blood test, have high thyroid antibodies, have had 3 mris's done since last June of brain, and whole spine with and without contrast, all clear and no change, plus 2 weeks ago a negative L.P. Am really confused drs tell me different things, ms unlikely due to tests, ms still likely with all normal tests, thyroid causes symptons similar to ms, thyroid causes no symptons, my neuro told me he can't dx me with ms even if it was as tests are not showing anything, maybe I will look into a endo..........
Thanks for posting, much appreciated, this whole process I trying to find out whats wrong has been going on for almost a year, it's so frustrating...........

The only two ways I know of diagnosing Hashimoto's is through blood tests (including antibodies) and biopsy.  Did you have either of those?

I had screaming headache, numbness, weakness, burning in fingers, "electrical shock" sensations in my arm, etc.  Went to the ER and they did blood tests and a LP - both were negative (thought I had meningitis or West Nile).  After pushing and pushing for more tests (and losing more and more function in my left hand) I finally got to a neurologist who finally ordered MRIs and nerve tests.  Turned out to be 2 herniated disks in my neck.

Did you also get an MRI of your entire spine or was it just a head MRI to rule out MS?
