skeeterknitwit, thanks for the affirmations I am posting them on my fridge!!!
Hi Shari, thanks for well wishes, you sound so much better than 21 days ago, see there was nothing to worry about, (RE: PTU). glad you are feeling better
hugs, Kim
Hey, my buddy!
I have been on the PTU 21 days today, and I lost three pounds! I'm only telling you this because I have a feeling that this isn't gonna last long.... Add to your daily affirmation:
8. If Barbie (you know that doll with the perfect figure - no waist, big boobs, stick legs) is so popular, then why do you have to buy her friends???
You know I love you, and you will be fine!!!
Much love,
Shari
My daily affirmations. You are welcome to use them too.
1. The average woman is a size 14.
2. Why do we think we should all be the same cookie cutter size?
3. Men think volumptuous is quite sexy.
4. Your value as a person is not based on your dress size.
5. Tell people you are looking prosperous.
6. You can pay a Dr. $$$ to suck fat out of your butt and put it in your face wrinkles or you can have a hot fudge sundae. I prefer the sundae.
7. It does not matter how many carrot sticks I eat, I will never be willowy.
why have they not put you on med? are you hypo? graves then radiation, now hypo??? thyca patient? what'sup up with the no meds. i know sometimes you have to wait after surgery or radiation for numbers to change. Is that you? I was atypical of graves and instead of losing a ton of weight i gained, and only going to get worse when i go hypo.
I am sympathetic
if you need to vent, I'm your girl

no didn't join yet, can't do anything until i stabilize, from what i hear nothing is going to help until that day, whenever that may be, getting to remission is quite awhile away for me, i have been taking meds for 3.5 months and it takes some people up to a year, man, i can't go higher than a 16 i will become a recluse, my social life is all but plummeted so uncomfortable. no understands the legs rubbing together and making you feel DISGUSTING, so hate summer. love winter, but the more clothes i put on, i look heavier. i just really hate myself right now. my son plays hockey and will have to be around people soon. i really really am unhappy today. been cleaning like crazy, have no control over my body so i guess i am compensating.
take care everyone and thanks for all the posts, i hate that i am not alone, if you know what i mean. Kim
My thyroid put 60 lbs. on me. I've had little wins and then gains over the years. I am now losing (slowly but it is going in the right direction). I have found that you do need to ensure your meds are right and you need to be in the right frame of mind to do this. My life had been extraordinarily stressful and with all the extra cortisol in your body and with your brain working against you it is impossible to lose. I had a gynecological surgery in June and was off work for 6 weeks. I got my stress level under control and then felt ready to do this. I use the support here plus s p a r k p e o p l e ******* which calculates all the calories, fat, etc. in what I eat. I find it so helpful to put all I eat in and it tells me if I am within the range I should be for where I am trying to go. It even suggests meal plans but I just enter what I do eat. I used to think I ate right but it's amazing how wrong I was. I still struggle with the exercise thing but I am being more active. It is much harder to do with a thyroid condition but patience is requried. Good luck!
I am straggling with this problem for years and now to hear somebody, who is running two miles a day, is having the same issue is telling me a WLgroup will not help too much.
I believe, for the people with thyroid problems, the same diets and programs that work for other people, will not work for us. The solution is more deep that just running, exercising and eating less. It is a hormonal imbalance. I hope that somebody will get to the bottom of it.
Again, this is just my opinion, after trying for so long too lose the weight.
did u join the thyroid weight loss group??
I know u not alone...I have nothing that fits......I hate the show what not to wear....I can't afford to keep buying clothes to fit.....anaad the ones I can squeeze into are not fashion forward!!
Hopefully the WLgroup can help all of us!!

PTU is a med for graves. I was in hypo range last blood work, so they have cut it back, but still gaining, supposedly not a thing I/We can do about weight until we are adjusted with meds, mine is a lot longer because i have go to through radiation or surgery on thyroid then go on hypo meds. I run every day (2 miles), don't eat very much but still it comes on. My husband tries to be understanding, but it is a long process and let's face men's attention spans aren't very long. so they get bored with the whole thing real fast.
how is your weight now, how long have you been hypo?
(Graveswoman) Kim
