My daughter was diagnosed at 2...she has been on therapy taking Methamazole since and it's been under control. They tested her antibodies and it showed she didn't present the Graves antibody any longer. So her doctor wanted to take her off the therapy since she had been on it for 12 years to see what her body would do. Well she made it 6 months and her numbers are all out of whack. In the meantime her doctor died (very sad story)...anyway the new doctor wants to do RAI. Any suggestions? Ideas? He has never done it in a 14 year old. I have tried getting a second opinion but since she is 14 she has to go to a peds doctor and this is the only one. I don't' know what the right answer. She has been fine on the therapy for years, good grads, active, in every sport there is, very athletic, is playing varsity bball as an 8th grader. I don't know if we want to start nuking/removing her thyroid and I have no doctor to get an answer from.
