Her First name is Emilia. I only went to her a couple of times before I left the state. I had had 2 unsucessful needle biopsies prior to seeing her. She performed the biopsy in her office, and then again a year later did a follow up. She was very helpful with information. I had a MUCH better understanding of what was going on with my thyroid after seeing her. At the time I did not need medication to adjust any levels. It was all about watching some nodules that were a concern. I can only speak from personal experience, and I found her knowledgeable and professional.
I really hope you have luck. I REALLY know how frustrating it can be to find a doctor you can trust.
Best of luck and let me know what happens.
PS. I sure miss Dallas. I was there about ten years and really learned to love it!!!
Is her first name Emilia? I'm looking in my insurance book and there is a Dr. Emilia Popa, is that the same one? What did you like about her? I'm researching this really hard now because I'm going to find someone that can treat me for the rest of my life. I have so many great recommendations but the best ones don't take insurance! I can't figure that one out. They want me to pay out of pocket and then file it myself. Well, I can't pay out of pocket for RAI once a year and all the scans and such, it's just too expensive.
I'd like a doctor that is willing to look at the numbers but then also treat me by the way I'm feeling. Does Dr. Popa do that? Does she use Cytomel do you know? I'm currently on it so I need someone willing to prescribe it if necessary.
Try Dr. Poppa in Dallas. I thought she was great.
Thank you! I will give Dr. Kotha a call and see what her thoughts and policies are.
And posting my labs will not make a difference. I have posted them privately with another member who knows her stuff and has been helping me with trying to figure out how to tweak my meds. Only now, my endo has decided to be a butt and not work with me. He does not believe that my hairloss has anything to do with my thyroid issues and he's unwilling to help me any further with it. I will now find someone who will. What am I supposed to do, go bald because he's too arrogant to admit that he does't know everything? I don't think so.
Hi Liz---I live in Denton! There is a pretty good endo. in Bedford. Dr. Vani Kotha. She is in the professional building behind Harris Methodist Hospital---Endocrine Associates- 817-685-4175. She's worth a try! I also talked with a lady today who is pretty happy with her endo. in Irving--Dr. Robert Feferman----Endocrinology Institute of Texas---214-596-9302. Hope this helps you out some!
Sorry, can't help you with an endo.
but please post your test results (and the reference ranges), and give us your symptoms and maybe we can help you on the interpretation.
Others will also post.
