Stopped methimazole 4 days ago. Can symptoms come Bach that fast

I have been on it for 4 yrs with great results.  Dr checked antibodies & wants me to stop. I have small bags under my eyes and feel pressure behind my eyes.  Could this be symptoms already after only 4 days?

Methimazole only has a half-life of 6-13 hrs, so yes, if you stopped it 4 days ago, it could be out of your system and you could be having symptoms of being hyper again...

What was the cause of your hyperthyroidism and what antibodies did your doctor test?

Can you get a thyroid panel done that includes Free T4, Free T3, and TSH?  That would tell us exactly what your thyroid is doing.

Thank you so much for answering.  I'm not sure because we literally just did my bloodwork. I met my new endocrinologist and he like the Dr before wanted me to try and stop the meds cuz my lane were normal for past 3 yrs and the dose I was on was so low..2.5
2.5 is a very low dose and it's unlikely to have been doing a whole lot, but it might have been just enough to keep some symptoms at bay.

It is important to note that bags under the eyes, as well as pressure, could be caused by something else, so it's necessary to look at the labs...

If you just did blood work, what were the results and reference ranges of your latest labs... Free T4, Free T3, and TSH?

Also, what was the cause of your hyperthyroidism to begin with?  Have you recently had any antibody tests done?  If so, which ones and what were the results with reference ranges?
It’s possible you might be developing Graves Opthalmology, (Graves eye disease).  Mine started with similar symptoms; swollen eye tissue and pressure.  Neither my ophthalmologist, nor my regular doctor recognized it at first.  They thought it was allergies.  G.O.  and Graves disease can run together or separately.  Do further research on your own.  Any treatment is more helpful if done in theearly stages.  Good luck.
