Thanks folks. I've had it before, although far less intense. The itchiness didn't begin until I'd had it for a few days. It's been a week and I still have it, although every day it decreases in severity. I took pictures over several days to show the Dr when I see him Monday. It's definitely not merely a sunburn. Also, it didn't begin until after more than 1-2 days out in the sun. I'm thinking photosensitivity or something associated with autoimmune.
While on vacation, his office called to tell me he wants to see me about a Glucose Tolerance Test and Insulin test I'd taken a week before. It doesn't sound like it bodes well, them calling me to come in.
Vitamin D level is at 32 with a low "normal' of 30, despite taking 4k iu per day. I can only imagine just how very low it would be if I took none!
Have a wonderful day!
Yes, if he said it is a waste of time to determine if you have Hashi's or not, then by all means Dump Him, he will never be good for you as a thyroid patient. Regards FTB4
oops I forgot to mention I am hypo also - not sure if I have Hashi's as my doctor thinks it's a waste of time to test for it since "the treatment would be the same anyway" (yeah I am looking for a new endo).
I am also experiencing some strange reactions to the sun! I actually break out in hives now when the sun is on my skin. It will go away eventually but the itchiness is almost unbearable for about 10 - 20 minutes! It seems that it may be temp based for me - I am not totally sure because I live in Michigan and we don't see the sun all that much until spring & summer which is when the problem is worse for me.
I am Hypo also with Hashi's, and when it is hot and I am in the sun, I get a stingy kind of itch, but if the temperature is lower the sulight does not bother me. Kind of odd, unless it has something to do with Vitamin D? Best Regards FTB4
