To Stella...update

Hello Stella...it's me again, just wanted to touch base with you, returning from my Doc today.  He will not go any further with the parathyroid issue because my PTH levels are "normal".  He has officially diagnosed me with Graves Disease and hypothyroidism....said it is very rare, but does happen.  My calcium levels are still hovering around 10.2, but I guess that will be put on the back burner for now.  Good news....I contacted the University of Colorado Medical School (I live in Colorado), and they are interested in my case.  They take on new patients that have complicated medical situations so they can learn from them.  They are going to bring me in as a "study" patient!!  I am so excited about this as they are up on all the latest studies and technology out there.  They are going to run every test possible until they come up with EXACTALLY what is wrong with me and what is causing these horrible, constant "hyper" symptoms with such a high TSH.  Have you ever considered contacting a Medical University near you?  I have an appt. on April 3rd, so they were able to fit me in fairly quickly. It may be worth a shot for you....at this point, anyone that is willing to take the time to help me feel better......I"LL TAKE IT!!  As far as the parathyroid issue, hopefully the University can shed some light on that too.  My Doc says my PTH just isn't high enough to show any concerns at this time.  I just want to feel better already!! (Sounds like we ALL have that in common)!!  Hope all is well with you.......Chris XOXO

WOW...great minds DO think alike!!  Good luck getting your insurance on board with your visit to Chicago.  Myself.....I am self employed, and therefor, uninsured (or "self-insured" I like to say).  As soon as a Doctors office or hospital hears that, I feel I am suffled out the door as quickly as they can get me there.  I am looking forward to going to the university hospital.....I think I am excited just to have someone else look at me.  Go luck with everything, I hope you find the answers you are looking for in Chicago, as I hope to in Denver.  Will be in touch!  Chris XOXO

Hey  - gret minds think alike. I was in contact with the University of Chicago already this week and yes I may see them on March 26. I don't know about me being a study case - but I am finding they seem to want to look over the issues with me and come up with a plan.

I also have a friend here in the forum that went to the University of Michigan for her treatment. That is also a possibility - but the distance is alot further than Chicago.

The mayo clinic was an option too - but talking it over with AR - I agree it is even farther to go and if (which I am sure I will need) more than one visit - the drive to Mayo would be impossible.

Good Luck on that medical university. As I read more about treatment in those hospitols - it sounds they are alot more interested in helping the patients than grabbing at their cash!!

I just need to get my insurance in line with that visit to Chicago. Then I believe I will be off to Chicago!

I still think you have a case of either primary hyperparathyroidism  - or secondary at least. -- but I am no doctor.
