Anyone know what vaporizes responses?

Why is it that some "comments" just disappear?  I'm not talking about the squabbily, arguing threads where people aren't getting anywhere and making the rest of us uncomfortable, and the whole thing just "goes away..."   I'm talking about the well thought out, detailed, answer to someone's question.  You go to hit "Post Comment" and it just goes NOWHERE.  It totally diappears, gone.  Just like that all your thought and consideration about and for that other person is vapor.  Sometimes I just don't have it in me to re-type it all and I leave my computer.  Is it just me?  I've seen others say that a long detailed answer was written and then just disappeared, so I'm sure it's not just me...  Anyone?

So now I feel better - it might not really have been my error!!

Thanks AR-10 - I never thought of typing responses in word, then transferring them.  I'll have to try that next time I have a "long winded" response.  lol

If you use IE it is notorious for doing that.. use Mozilla Firefox as your browser, it has excellent capabilities. You should also be aware if your modem is on adsl or dial up it can have a glitch leading to hanging as well. It could also be a medhelp programming error in the post comment button.

Oh now that AR explained the deal - Yes I did have that too. Only when locking up and then losing the internet explorer.

Not sure - cyber ghosts I imagine.

I have the same problem about once a week. The computer locks up when I hit "submit", and sometimes the submission is lost. The site locks up on me about once or twice a day, and I have to shut down Internet Explorer and start over.

Once it locked up and by the time I had IE shut down, I had posted the same post four times.

I think it's a bug in the works here, because I visit other sites regularly and only have trouble here.

If I was smart enough to use the Word program I have, I'd type replies in Word and then transfer them. If a submission gets lost, it is still saved in Word, from what I understand.

But there are probably instructions to read or something, and I'm a guy.
:o)

I'll agree that there have been times I typed for half an hour, lost the submission, and said to heck with it. Let someone else answer the question.

I've had that happen several times and I thought I hit a wrong button or there was a problem with my computer.  I'd like to think I don't make that kind of mistakes and that my computer works perfectly all the time (lol) but I suspect it probably was my fault.  I rarely have the time and/or energy to go back and retype all that info, so end up just saying "to heck with it" and never do respond.

I am not sure about this.

Are you saying when you hit the "post" button it doesn't get on the public thread?

I never had that happen to me - but I can check into that for you.
