high dhea

Hi folks,
I posted this before... but no response. I have extremely high DHEA levels?? Endo does not know what to do... says we will retest in a few months ( this will be 3rd time). Or she said maybe go see gyn dr.
I do NOT take any dhea supplements or such. Help from anyone who has had this as to why... and what to do is so appreciated . I am perimenopausal,am hypothyroid, have SVT of heart and high cortisol levels ( by saliva ) too.
Thanks.

Hi! Thanks for the info... I liked the site, very informative. I think I should have repeat CT too... but endo wants to wait ( again) and retest in July when I go back for followup. She also suggested I see Gyn which I will make appt for her  "take" on this issue. I want to be assured there is nothing wrong with my adrenals.
It is interesting that usually high DHEA and cortisol are inversely proportional.... my PCP said this and I found research agreeing with this theory. So how can I also have high cortisol ( by saliva?) and high Dhea? I also take compounded progesterone (low dose) and she wants me to check with pharmacy to make sure there is NO dhea in the compounded progesterone. I will also check on that idea.
Thanks again!!!

"DHEA is also produced in the adrenal gland (50 percent), the ovary (20 percent) and from peripheral conversion of DHEA-S (30 percent) with total production rates of 6 to 8 mg per day [3]. Circulating levels are in the range of 1 to 10 ng/mL"
.
I took this from : (you can print and show the doctor):

I think you should repeat a CT scan but with an adrenal protocol to see if something is growing. With an adrenal protocol CT scan, extra thin sections of  the region around the adrenal glands are examined.

Hi! Thanks for the responses. My endo did a STIM test which was normal. The saliva was not done by her... she does not believe in them. I did have an MRI  and CT of abdomen last year for GI issues... all were normal. So endo said another MRI/CT was unnecessary. She suggested I see my Gyn for help... I had routine checkup in Dec and all was normal.
My family dr has NO idea what to do, he is great guy but says he has no ideas, just a GP, doesn't deal with this.
I am at a loss because she just wants to watch this... and I really want to make sure its nothing serious. I have had health issues(? what and why ) since thyroid lobectomy 2 1/2 years ago.. and never ever had problems previously.
Thanks again for any direction!!!

Do you have cyst in your ovay? Have you done a CT scan with an adrenal protocol? an did your doctor asked for DHEA-S,?

The high cortisol levels could have something to do with it. Has your endo done any tests for Cushings disease?  Maybe you should look for a doctor who specializes in hormone levels.
You need to have ALL your adrenal gland hormones tested. Possibly CT or MRI to look for hormone excreting tumor maybe?
That is my guess and advice. let us know how you do! :)
