I have been on Erfa for 3 years. It uses dextrose (sugar) as a filler like pre 09 Armour did. NP Acella also uses dextrose.
Post '09 Arrmour and Nature Throid both use microcrystalline cellulose as a filler.
The filler is what makes the difference between one North American Dessicated and another, thus effecting absorbancy. It is said that all North American dessicated brands use the pork hormone from the same supplier.
The change frpm Erfa to NP, technically should be easier than others.
I wasn't on Erfa, but had gone from Armour to Compounded to NP. The NP seemed stronger to me. I believe both kl42 and I both had higher readings than we expected on our first tests after starting it. If I'm not mistaken, Erfa more closely resembles NP ie; dextrose filler. I do know that I went for the same dose I was on with the compounded and had to lower the NP a bit, I believe the same thing happened to kl42, but cannot speak for him...good luck to your son!
Hope you are trying split doses!!
I'm moving my 16 year old son from Erfa to NP, has anyone done that? Did u stay on the same dosage or was one stronger than the other. Hope someone answers, really curious. Thx.
doing good ON it. its available at Target cheep also 5 dollars a month
How is it going with Acella? I'd like to start the switch but was jut wondering what it's been like for people on it for some time now.
Cheers,
Carmen
The dessicated meds call all react different for the same person due to different formulations and fillers. That is what affects absorbing. That is why some of us bother with Erfa, we tried the rest and this was best for us, it was obvious after the change.
You have to try them yourself to know. That is the only way unfortunately.
