TSH Levels

What does a <0.004 L TSH mean in terms of diagnosis and treatment. How sever is this case. I recently had a blood test and this is what my levels are. My pulse is also racing about 120/min. I know that is an overactive hyperthyroid condition but what will the doctor normally do to fix these levels.  My father also has a hyperactive thyroid, but I am only 24 years old. Is this very common in such young cases without being pregnant?

Thank you for your help..

I have an appointment for the Endo doctor in a few weeks. I have just started to notice that there is pain in my jaw and my lymph nodes in my neek are swollen.  I read that this is normal with Hyperthyroidism...  Is that true? Are there other causes of both happening at the same time?  Thank you for all your help..

0.004 is pretty low.

You will be put on a medication to slow down your thyroid, and possibly a Beta Blocker for a short time.

I assume a Free T4 test was also run and it shows either high or high but within normal range, yes?

You should have three antibody tests run as well.
TPOab
TGab
TSI

And a Free T3 if it hasn't been run.

That will help find out why you are hyper.
A thyroid ultrasound may be a good idea to see if you have irregularities that may be producing excess hormones.

Eventually treatment will hinge on the findings of further tests. You may have Grave's Disease, or a hot nodule, or Hashimoto's that is in a hyper phase.

Best of luck to you.

An Endo may be a good idea to pinpoint the exact problem.

I have hypothyroid I'm only 23 it runs in my family. I was told by my doctor that thyroid problems either hyper or hypo tend to run in the family. I have no idea on the how they treat it part. I would suggest getting an ENDO Doctor that you feel comfortable with.
