TSH level and dosing of synthyroid

what is the correct level tsh for someone who has had a thyroidectomy (complete not partial), i am confused. it seems like when i see my endocrinologist the level is different everytime. i think the last test my tsh was 0.2. he said that was ok. i have been on 0.175 mcg synthyroid for 1 year. also, what is the correct tsh for pregnancy?

I think it depends on the reason for the TT (cancer vs. non-cancerous) as well as on the individual and how they feel. Cancer suppression TSH levels are generally much lower than "normal," though I could be wrong. (Some lovely person here will correct me if I'm misinformed!)

As for pregnancy TSH levels, again I think it depends on whether or not it's cancer suppression levels.

Good luck - I'm a fellow TT patient and trying to get my levels "right."

Actually... if you are pregnant you might need more meds to support your pregnancy. I had hyper issues with both pregnancies but my Endo said that it wasnt enough for meds because having thyroid issues in pregnancy can be normal and can subside,as mine did both pregnancies and said if we did need the meds, most likely the dose would be a little higher than normal. It is imparative that you have enough thyroid hormones floating around while pregnant.. especially in the early stages of pregnancy. I had a TT in Mar and just figuring out my levels on Armour. Good luck! MK

I had a TT due to cancer and my current TSH is .2 and I'm on 150 mcg of Synthroid.  My regular doctor thinks that my tsh is too low but my endo feels it's where it needs to be. I feel fine now so I'd rather just keep things the way they are!
