TN, Migraines, Meds-side effects of all

Hi,
I have suffered with migraines for many years & was placed on prophylactic meds-Cymbalta & Propranolol. About 3 months ago I developed Trigeminal Neuritis on my R side.  I have to say it was the most painful affliction I ever experienced, even worse than the 2 spinal fusions I underwent! I was placed on Trileptal & am up to 600mg 2x/day, as well as continuing with Cymbalta & Propranolol.  The issue I have been experiencing is sweating from my face, neck & head & feeling extremely hot.  I'm 43 & don't think I am experiencing menopause as this started around the time of the TN.  It's so uncomfortable & very embarrassing.  I'm a nurse & often get very weird looks & comments about my dripping hair.
Should I ask my Neurologist about switching medications?  I'm at a loss & so embarrassed by this.

I checked them out on a drug interaction website drugs.com and nothing about sweating came up, although other warnings did. However that doesn't mean anything, Nancy is right, check with your doctor. There are many others with fewer side effects. I am on Vimpat which has almost none. Who needs hot flashes on top of all of that!!

I never had that particular side effect when I was on Trileptal -- but you should definitely speak to your doctor -- find out if it IS the Trileptal causing the problem and if so -- there are definitely lots of other anti-seizure meds out there that you could be switched to.
