2 years of chest pains

Hey, i am a 24 year old male and have been having chest pains for a little over 2 years now, i have been to several doctors and no-one can find me any relief with any kind of antibiotics ect.. The right side of my ribcage sticks out further then the left in the lower 3-4 ribs and the pain does not often subside it generally aches all/every day i am waiting on an appointment on the 12th may to get this checked but they will only check my chest as its a specialist. this year however I feel like it has moved, i am getting pain in my neck, the skin is tender to touch (like a rash thats not there) my collar bone on the right hand side feels like it has constant pressure on it but nothing feels different and the veins on my neck have started to poke out and i have a couple of small lumps.
Have been to a lot of doctors and they all seem useless, i leave feeling more worried then when i got there, can anyone give me an opinion about what this might be, i dont know what to do and it is really starting to get to me mentally. I am worried please help.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Pain in right chest, neck, shoulder or rib area can be due to gall stones, hepatitis or duodenal ulcer. It can also be due to inflammation of lining of lungs or pleurisy.
Heightened response to pain, shifting pain can also be due to fibromyalgia or chronic pain syndrome.
Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into. Please consult your PCP to run tests and examination to clinch a diagnosis.
Take care!

Pectus carinatum  is a condition where there is an overgrowth of cartilage causing the sternum to protrude forward.  It can be caused by a birth defect, healing improperly after chest surgery or one of the following genetic disorders: Marfan syndrome, Morquio syndrome, Noonan syndrome, Trisomy 18, Trisomy 21, homocystinuria, osteogenesis imperfecta, multiple lentigines syndrome, Sly syndrome and Scoliosis.

If you have Scoliosis, that alone can cause the chest pain if the scoliosis is bad enough it is affecting other organs.   My left rib cage sticks out more than my right though I never noticed it until I became ill with Lyme.  However, now that I have been treated for Lyme and feeling much better, I can tell you that my rib cage still protrudes more on the left so it's likely that's normal for you and you are just noticing it now that you are sick.

You also may be having muscle spasms which are common in scoliosis.  Muscle spasms can move around and cause lumps because your muscles are bunching up.  Any time a muscle bunches up like that, you're going to get even more pain because it's pulling on every bone it's connected to as well.  Muscles are supposed to lie flat.  Your skin can be tender to the touch with a muscle spasm.  I wouldn't panic just yet.   The chest pain you are having could be from something that's very treatable, such as GERD (medication) or scoliosis (physical therapy).  Pain has a great way of making your muscles go in to spasm because uncontrolled pain makes all of those muscles tense up.  You need to find relief for the pain and you may want to ask your physician if you can try a muscle relaxant until you get that chest pain under control.

Sometimes we worry and see more symptoms and just assume they are related. Not saying your symptoms are not related, but its just a thought.I worry about things and when i do i notice things more...does that make any sense? If u have a very physical job it could be some kind of inflammation to the muscle..this would come and go depending on what u do and could be in different places.Im not a medical proffessional and am just giving you my thoughts.Good luck! Please let us know what u find out...
