son can't walk

6 year old son was battling what seemed to be a normal child's cold or  the seasonal flu. Sent him to the ER, had many tests.  My concern is that his CK Test showed his level at 4,000 and possibly above that range.  Should I be concered.  He woke up one morning in such pain in his calves that he could not get up to use the bathroom.  Crawled for the whole day until I couldn't take watching him this way.  Doctors think it's viral and gave him Prednisone and Amoxicilan and treated his asthma.  Should I be concerned and request to see a specialist?  He is now walking and says the pain is almost gone.  I am worried once the medication is off that this will reoccur again.

Please help an worried mother.

My 5 year old son is going through the same thing. I have been very concerned. I have been looking for any helpful info to help me understand what is going on with him. My first reaction was that he was faking and just being dramatic. I just don't understand. I'm glad I'm not alone. I hope that this goes away soon because I have been carrying him everywhere and he has been crawling around. I just want my little boy to be okay. Let me know how your child is doing please and any helpful tips..................Nancy

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
First of all relax! The symptom of ‘calf pain and not able to walk’ is very common in viral fevers in children. In fact it is a diagnostic feature of viral fever and that is why your son’s doctors think he has viral fever. Only add a multivitamin to his prescribed medicines. You should only be concerned if his fever spikes up and he has similar symptoms again. Having cautioned you, I still feel the need to worry will not arise.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
