Any other test to recomend?
For the past year I have been having what I thought were allergic reactions and I have used over the counter Benedryl and my symptoms would disappear in about ten minutes. Symptoms were first itchy palms,flushing and feeling dizzy and light headed.This always occurs after eating breakfast- usual food is yougurt, fresh fruit and granoila with a few almonds and a made at home latte. I've had foods checked out by an allergist and not allergic to those foods.Two weeks ago I had my first episode of having the above symptoms taking a Benedryl and passing out cold apparently for 15 minutes or so. My breathing was raspy according to my husband who held me up to keep me from falling off the chair I was sitting on. Then last Friday the same sequence after breakfast only this time I was standing up at the sink taking the Benedryl I apparently passed out and in falling broke my ankle and tore ligaments in same foot. I was admitted to the hospital where the did an x ray of my brain,blood work, chest x ray and carotid artery test,ekg. Everything regarding the heart or seizures was ruled out so they did not recommend an echocardiogram or an Mri after considering doing both. The have recommended an EEG which I will have done this week. So I left the hospital in great pain from the ankle and will get a cast put on when the swelling is reduced this week. And no answers. I am an active healthy woman at least until now.

there is something you have to be allegic to...do you think it's an allergic reaction or your doctor said it was?...are you maybe allergic to the benadryl? or do you take any medicine in the morning?...brittany

You can test for food related hypoglycemia. A glucose challenge test is done and body’s response to high glucose is studies at different time duration. In all probability you have insulin secreting tumors that cause a dip in glucose level called post prandial hypoglycemia.
The other thing to look for is vasovagal attack. The complex group of symptoms is mediated by the vagus nerve. This nerve is irritated by prolonged standing, standing up suddenly, stress, pain, hunger, dehydration, intense emotion, certain smells, food etc. A tilt table test, holter monitor, echocardiogram etc are done for confirmed diagnosis.
