Waking up in the middle of the night sick

Twice in the last week this has happened where I wake up sweating with my heart racing and feeling like I am going to vomit. It has been awful. The first time it happened I thought maybe I ate something funny but then it happened again. These episodes happen about an hour or two after I have fallen asleep. Just looking for suggestions, figure I will contact my Dr if it happens again. Could be stress related? I am 37, take a low dose of Wellbutrin and I exercise regularly. Thank you.

We are all hoping you get to the bottom of it!  Maybe your hormones are a little "off".  I hope it's not early onset menopause!  I had a hysterectomy - so I had early menopause at 36.  -  Had to take some hormones for a while...

Thank you all. I have been on Wellbutrin for a number of years and I do get heart palpitations with nothing showing up on an EKG. Im 37 and think I may actually be peri-menopausal.  I have since been having night sweats without the other symptoms mentioned above. Blah. But I am going to get in touch my doctor as well. Could very well be panic attacks, I havent had one in many years and they always happened during the day.
Thanks again for all the input!

Good point. It is always good to check the meds.

What position do you sleep in?  Which side?  Back?
This might be an added factor.
Sleepping on left side usually helps keep the stomach jucies from coming up.  But you might also be cutting off blood flow from how you are positioned in bed.  I also agree that you need to consult a doctor about the meds.

Well, it sounds like a panic attack. I would talk to them about medicine for that and/or biofeedback or meditation in addition to meds. If that doesn't work over time think about possible migraine variant. I had them without any headache or aura. I had an electroencephalogram (EEG) done and it was positive. The only time I got sick and threw up was at bed time. It took me years to get diagnosed but I didn't have the racing heart or sweating. That is more like a panic attack. Last thing is to get an EKG to double check your heart is ok. If so, then I would go in the order of 1. panic attack, 2. get EKG, 3, possible migraine variant. I think it is more likely #1.
Let me know how it goes.

If you look up the side effects of Wellbutrin, it says to contact your doctor immediately if you have a fast or irregular heartbeat.  This medicine might not be right for you.

Please see your doctor about changing your meds.

Wishing you the best.
