Hello,
Blood in stool can be due to number of causes. If it is fresh blood and only streaks along with hard stools and pain in the anal region while defeacating, it could be because of anal fissures (injury to the mucosal lining by hard stools which bleeds). Haemorrhoids (piles) can also result in blood in stools (you may or may not have rectal mucosa coming out of anal verge). If you have loose stools with blood and mucus in stools with crampy pain in stomach, it could be due to infection (bacterial/amebic) and you need to have stool microscopy done for confirmation it. The other possibility is of inflammatory bowel disease.
Other causes of blood in stools are aspirin or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications, polyps (small growths) and malignant growths of tissue. Diagnosis is by ultrasound abdomen. In some cases sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy may be needed.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
I should have specified that blood coming from more toward the rectum than from higher up in the bowels (bright red as opposed to darker blood) is likely from hemorrhoids and nothing to worry about.
Could be bad, or it could be nothing. A very dark stool usually indicates that the blood is from higher up in the intestinal tract. Bright red blood usually indicates that the blood is coming from closer to the rectum. If you have a large amount of blood in your stool, though, you need to seek medical attention immediately. If you have an ulcer, it could have perforated, and perforated ulcers can--if left untreated--lead to death within a matter of hours or days. I don't know your medical history, but if you are a heavy drinker, the likelihood of this being an ulcer that has perforated is much greater.
I need to know these thing before I can answer you questions. are you constipated, diarrhea, nausea,or puss or mucus in your stool
Alot of blood in the stools should be investigated,it could be a tear or where you have strained,it could be a number of things,IBS is a possibility, but i would get it looked at
