Dizziness

hi folks, I'm a 43 yr old female and for last 4 months have been having bouts of dizziness/vertigo. Have gone to Drs, they give me steroids short term, I'm then fine for 4-6 weeks then starts over. Have had blood work done, everything normal. Went to specialist for ears & eyes everything okay there. Was wondering if ulcers would cause dizziness? Seems worse when up and around and really bad if I bend over. Any ideas would be great ..... getting tired of feeling this way.

Has your doctor checked you for benign paroximal positional vertigo? They can treat this faily easily. Does the room feel like it is spinning and that you are going to fall over?  The hair in the inner ear get pieces of (I think calcium) that land in the hairs of the inner ear and to remove them they have you lay in certain positions until it clears. I would think the ENT would have thought of this though. Some drugs will cause dizzyness.

thank you all for the advice, no not diabetic, been doing the benadryl for awhile, no help. hava I have been doing the nose & ear things but no help, will keep at it. ouchies103 does the Dramamine make you sleepy the rest of day? I am very susceptible to drugs. Apparently if it says non drowsiness, my body thinks it means be drowse. Am going to stop in today and see the health nurse and see if she has any ideas. Will keep ya posted on any improvements.

you might have already tried this, but dramamine worked wonders for my vertigo. After 6 months of medical misery, I was willing to try anything, and I  set my alarm for an hour before getting out of bed in morning, take 2 dramamine and go back to sleep, I can't tell you how much this improved my vertigo. It is available over the counter and not very expensive. I hope this is a remedy you have not tried yet and it will work for you. Vertigo is really awful and it takes the fun right out of a good day. Good luck.

To help with the dizziness follow this pranayam twice a day, everyday. This works gradually, so allow months. You will start to see some benefit in weeks. Let me know your progress at some point.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.

Anulom Vilom pranayam –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 20 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close little flap of ears with thumb, place  index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee.
Repeat this  5 to 21 times.

Are you diabetic or have you been checked for diabetis? They have the test called hemoglobin A1C. A fasting blood sugar can help too. How is your blood pressure? You could have a type of vertigo.Does the vertigo come on with movement or does the room spin or what are you feeling? If your other meds allow it try taking pseudofed or benedryl a couple of days and see if that helps.
