Hi there- I’m an 18 year old female with a strange symptom that has been bothering me for the past 2 years. 2 years ago, I noticed I would start to get a slightly dull pain in my middle right side during the night (around 6 am) and it would last until I got up. As the days progressed, the pain slowly got worse- becoming sharper to the point where even if I yawned, I would suddenly flinch because a sharp stab-like feeling would go through my right side. Soon the pain became stronger and started much sooner (3 am in the morning). If I slept on my right side, it would go away. Though immediately when I turned back onto my back to sleep, the pain would automatically return. It would only start during the night- however there was some days where the pain would last all day as well, and only go away when I went to bed- soon returning during the night. Now, the pain has spread and has gone around into my middle back, and down near the ovaries. The pain is horribly sharp and I can no longer sleep (pain now starting at 1 am). When I sleep on my right side, it no longer goes away- instead it still feels like a very sharp stabbing which takes my breath away. I tried switching mattresses, the way I sleep, and even getting an ultra sound on my right kidney- but the nurses and doctors all said it was nothing. I took a urine test and blood work, though still nothing. I have thought it could be appendix flares- but the nurse automatically denied it. I mentioned to the nurse that perhaps I have cysts on my ovaries, yet they also denied that. I can’t come to believe that this unbearably sharp pain is nothing- it has slowly been getting worse and now it’s to the point where I cannot stand it anymore.
Is this really nothing? What could this be? I would really like for this pain to stop once and for all.
Please help. Thank you.
