Isolated Itchy Blisters

I have repeatedly gotten small extremely itchy blisters on one finger of my right hand.  These blisters have never appeared or spread to any other part of my hand, only that one finger.  The blisters will ooze and are extremely itchy until they break at which point the finger gets very painful and more so when exposed to water, soap, etc. I could stand some relief, any ideas?

One of two things come to my mind. 1 but not likely if it occurs in the same place on the same finger only, is allergic reaction. 2. Herpetic Whitlow, I am sure this is the only two, but in my profession this is a possiblity if you treat someone with active cold sores and you have a cuticle tear, a cut or break in the skin. once exposed the virus rest in the ganglion of the nerve when realeased it effects the same area over and over the life of the person. At this time there is no cure only creams etc. that minimize the symptoms. I don't have this but I do occasionally get a cold sore which is HSV1 I know that it is possible for me to spread this to other parts of my body if there is a break in my skin. One thing that has helped me tremendously is taking 2 500 mg of L-lysine once a day. As long as I take that I don't get a 'cold sore' /"fever blister". Hope this helps.
