Jaw/Chin Numbness?

Hi Ive noticed some mild numbness/spasm in my lower right jaw/chin area. Its been off an on for the past couple of days?

I do have chronic neck, shoulder and upper back muscle tension with some occasional radiating tingling in arms and hands. Frequent joint pain due to occupation (massage therapist) and atypical symptoms of crohns.

I have noticed more tightness and compression in my neck even with regular massage ,stretching and exercise. Sometimes I also get numbness in traps on right side while exercise- possibly from bra strap and weightbearing movement on the same side?

I haven't had any recent dental work, or any nuero work ups as of yet.

Wondering what it could be?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
This could either be due to local cause like temporomandibular joint disorder or due to pinched cervical spinal nerve. You need to consult a dentist or a neurologist to find the cause. Take care!

Hey it  could be TMJ  It has so many areas that it touches.  Mild case of ear or tooth ache,  but it really come from your temporal joint. with spasm u can have that ache  pain  and the lips can feel tingly too.  If u get anxious about it then it can worsen.  Some times it can come from chewing a lot  of touch stuff .Steaks, gum  raw carrots. The numbness  is just the nerves reacting Just like u said spasm it can truly be painful  and frighting. I have had friends with this and they do get flare ups,  So some advice stop all hard chewing  3 days will make a big difference  just eat soft foods for a few days,  warm hot towel around your neck  and make sure u have a low  flat pillow  all this leads to a better  relaxation of those muscles.  and some people get it so bad  they get servers headaches, glands on neck will ache , and all that is related to this.  Their r TMJ  specialist out there for u .So u  can see to get a more medical opinion.  Hope some of these  tips works to get u feeling better
