Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Localized blisters with itch can be due to diabetes, psoriasis, hypothyroidism, contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, dermatitis herpetiformis, chronic bullous dermatosis, and malnutrition. Blisters can be caused by intense rubbing or friction. They can also be seen in moist skin as one always covered with sweat or water.
It can be fungal infection or herpes and since your girlfriend also has this, these two conditions should be ruled out. It can also be due to both of you coming in contact with something. Please discuss these possibilities with a doctor. Take care!
go figure. I told you I hadn't had one of these things in FOREVER right...this morning I woke up with one on the bottom part of my palm! All I could think was "you're kidding me right?!" lol The link you posted was interesting, thanks. I only get them one or two at a time, which I'm glad for!
TO Tah92: Have you had any luck in subsiding the issue?
Thank you so much! They never did a culture of the infection the first time I go it, so maybe that will be where I start. :)
There is one other thing I have had that sounds similar but I didn't even think of it. I know what you're saying about they look like blisters - or "whatever they are" because I have had those. They're little vesicles that suddenly show up on my palms or between my fingers and do itch like hell. The doctor told me off handedly that it was Dyshidrotic eczema. He asked if I had been under stress or came in contact with something that I am sensitive to. It seems like I only develop them in warmer weather and I believe they can also be tied to moisture. Sorry I was stuck on ringworm and did not read thoroughly - I had just got home from work after reading reports all day. Here is a website. I was happy to see it listed some of things I had mentioned: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001835/
Okay, no, then I don't think it's ringworm. Because it's always in a ring pattern and when scratched turns red and stuff. I know I used to get random bumps on my palm and fingers though, that itched, without a picture it's hard to know if it's the same as yours though. I think I would try something like i mentioned before like nystatin though. Like I said it's worth a try and if it doesn't work you can move on to something else. Or maybe an athlete's foot cream (nystatin is used for that as well as yeast infections in the skin)...that is OTC and not that expensive and I don't think it'd hurt to try...
Ok I get what you are saying about ring worm, because I have had it before. But the blisters (whatever they are) are not in a circle and are not red. Could it still be ring worm? What are some home remedies I could use to treat it?
I agree with tgtiffany...ringworm was my first thought and it's easily spread to hands and feet. http://www.askdrsears.com/html/11/T083200.asp
When first reading this my first thought is that it's ring worm. Which is in fact a fungus that grows under the skin. It creates circles and itches like mad!! (my daughter and I are getting over a few of these) But then you say that your gf has them too? are they the same? In the same places? I know that when I used to work alot my hands sometimes used to get little bumps what looked like blisters that itched on my palms and stuff. I think mostly when my hands would get sweaty, but I dont' remember exactly. I haven't had them in a while now. I also used to get what looked like pus filled bumps under my rings because I was allergic to the nickel in them and they would itch like crazy, i would scratch them until they were almost bleeding before i realized it. I stopped wearing my rings and it went away, now i don't get them but every once in a while. But you say you were treated for fungus and they went away, maybe try that again? Perhaps it's something in your everyday life that is making it happen. I know that ring worm stays on surfaces and stuff for a while and that it is very contagious. I use nystatin or mupirocin ointment for them (both have been prescribed for the baby's diaper rashes) It's worth a try at least...good luck!!
Ok so it sounds like they are contagious. Have both of you been tested for any STDs. If not maybe start there. You hydrocordizone to stop the itching until you get the problem fixed. But you may want to make an appoinment with someone who specialzes in skin conditions. Good luck.
