Pain Under My RIbs

About 5 years ago I was putting up a fence. I bent over and suddenly felt something "pop" right under the last bottom rib on my right side. The pain was so sharp I almost passed out and had to lay on the ground for about 10 minutes. Ever since then I would have a dull to semi-sharp pain here and there, mostly when I was doing something active or twisting. (maybe every 2 months or so) I chalked this up as a pulled muscle or something. But over the past 2 months the dull pain has been more frequient. The past week it has been almost constant and is either a dull pain or cool tingling feeling. I am starting to get worried it is a hernia or worse.

Hi
A cool tingling feeling is usually due to sensory nerve entrapment or pressure. There is a chance that the ‘pop’ you heard could be fracture of the rib. An X-ray should be ordered for this. Please discuss this with your doctor. Take care!

Thank you so much for your input. I wanted to clarify a bit where the location is. At my bottom right rib, from the center of my chest to my side I would say it is half way in between. I have had pulled muscles before and it feels like that mostly but the cool tingling feeling I have been getting lately is what has my attention.

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
In all probability what you have is costochondritis (inflammation of the joint between rib and sternum. The inflammation around the joint area gives sharp pain on taking a breath. This can also cause tenderness on pressing the area which pains. An orthopedic doctor can diagnose this for you.
It could be an epigastric hernia, but your symptoms do not point towards it. Without examining you it is difficult to access the situation. Please consult your doctor.
Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
