abnormal Discharge and Smell

Hello, for the past three day i have been having a different type of vaginal discharge as well as odor. The discharge is white in color and sort of like a thick but moist paste. When reaching my underwear, it turns into a light brownish color. The discharge does not have a fishy odor, instead it has more like a foul, funky smell. My vagina does not itch and is not excessicely burning. The first night i noticed this, i was experiencing extreme lover back pains and drowsiness. I researched the syptoms but nothing i found matches the infection to be exact. i had a yeast infection before and this does not feel like one. i am scared that this may be STD related beacause of other comlications i'va had in the past few months (see posts). Someone please help me!

Sounds exactly like my symptoms, turned out to be an large ulcer on the entrance to my cervix. This is a recurrance (after 12 years, 10 of which were on Depo Provera) of Behcets Syndrome, a genetic disorder.

The Nurse Practitioner at Planned Parenthood did a pap and tested for Trich and Bacterial Vaginosis, both of which were negative.

Good luck!

An odorous vaginal discharge can sometimes be a symptom of bacterial vaginitis. It should be checked out. I know you may feel uncomfortable talking about this with your doctor, but that's what the doctor is there for. This is a common problem that your doctor has heard many times before. If you avoid bringing it up, the poor doctor will go out of business! In general, vaginitis doesn't cause sterility. If you get a sexually transmitted disease, that can cause sterility. The doctor checks for that by doing a cervical culture or smear at the time of a vaginal exam. As far as home remedies, the only thing I know of would be douching. In this process you are rinsing out any vaginal or cervical secretions so that bacteria have less material on which to produce odorous causing chemicals. There actually is evidence that regular douching seems to increase the incidence of vaginal infections. However, if you already have a problem, douching is often effective in reducing the symptoms. Betadine douche is one still recommended by many physicians. If the symptoms don't clear up after douching 3/week for one or two weeks, you really should see your doctor.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
The first thing to go for is a PAP smear and a complete STD panel. If this is normal then the uterus should be visualized through a uteroscope. This may not feel like fungal infection, but this must be eliminated by a gynecologist.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
