What is going on with my body?!?!

I'll make this brief in hopes that someone will read...

I am having all kinds of weird body aches and pains. Most of my body feel slightly sore to the touch, especially my upper legs/thighs, upper arms, armpits, and abdomen.  In addition to soreness, I have pinprick sensations throughout my body on and off all day.  This gets more frequent and bothersome in the evenings and more so when I go to bed.  The pinprick sensations are mainly in my legs and some in my abdomen and buttocks.

There have been episodes of rather intense aching in my armpits and groin area that have made it almost impossible to sleep some nights.  Also, my legs jerking and aching at night have kept me awake for long periods.  This has been going on for over 2 months now.

I'm pretty sure that my nurse practitioner either doesn't take me seriously, or just chalks everything up to my eating disorder.  However, I have been in treatment and doing a lot better with that.  Due to chronic laxative abuse, I should mention, I have permanent kidney damage.  My GFR has been in the 50s every month since January.  My creatinine has been just slightly elevated a couple times.  Other labs have been back in the normal range (my potassium was low a couple times).  Everything has been improving but my body hurts now and I don't know what to do or what is causing this.  I need answers!!!  Please help!!!

I little anxiety is OK. It's time for a change and I think you need it.

Just trust the universe, that everything happens for a reason.

Hang in there, you've done a remarkable transformation and soon
the positive effects will start showing up. it just takes a little time.

Blessings,
Niko

I have made a decision to go to another medical provider. I requested an intake packet today for a functional medicine doctor in the area. The last thing I want is to be trying to throw pills at this to treat the symptoms. I want answers, help managing this, and to be truly listened to. Going to someone new makes me feel very anxious. However, I am tired of just simply complaining about this. Today has been very rough with body aches and pinprick sensations.

Hey Scared_and_Worried.

You're welcome!

One small correction:

The only other thing I can suggest is to look into alternative detoxification methods which do NOT involve the kidney.

Wishing you well.

Hi Niko:

Thank you for taking time to respond; I really appreciate your thoughts and feedback.

I should have mentioned that I stopped taking the laxatives a couple months ago and only used them a couple times in the preceding 2 months.  Still, my body hates me.

Despite me repeatedly voicing my concern to my NP, the only lab work I have had is BMPs and CBCs, nothing other that what those test for has been checked out.

At this point, I'm getting extremely frustrated.  I am honestly trying to improve the situation as I desperately want to feel better.  I go to a therapist and dietitian on a weekly basis and am attending an intensive outpatient program for eating disorders.  Over the course of the past couple months, I have, for the most part, been eating appropriately.  Ironically, that is when things seemed to take a turn for the worse as far as my body is concerned.

My entire body is so sore today.  It hurts just to sit at my computer desk.  I am uncomfortably bloated, achy, sore, and have some pitting edema on my ankles.

Really, I'm going to have to take charge and start advocating for myself.  Without me doing so, I'm not sure that my medical provider is going to take the time necessary to figure this out.  If I don't feel like she is going to do so, maybe I need to find someone else.  Lack of sleep is really impacting my life.  It is hard to focus on work and recovery with these health issues going on.

The NP might be conducting him/herself in an unprofessional manner,
should s/he's not taking you seriously.
By now, you have learnt that. laxative abuse causes mainly the loss of water, minerals and electrolytes, which have caused you some permanent kidney damage, among some other- yet to be diagnosed- imbalances and conditions.

Chronic deficiencies in minerals and electrolytes, along with the  lack of adequate Hydration (which is a very vital  part of metabolic processes and overall wellness) may cause long-term issues, even if these deficiencies.
are getting corrected and labs back in normal range.

I think your hormones and neurotransmitters are dysregrulated,
You should get these checked..
. Another thing to note is that some minerals  like magnesium matter mostly when tissue levels are tested for, not serum levels.

The only other thing I can suggest is to look into alternative detoxification methods which do involve the kidney, for which you need to consult with
a holistic practitioner like an ND or functional medicine doctor, knowledgeable in this field.

I hope this helps, however, my comments and suggestions are not intended as a substitute for medical advice.

Best wishes,
Niko
