Severe stomach pains, bowl movements and gurgling. Can i still have campylobacter?

For about six months i have been experiencing sudden crippling stomach pains, which is then followed by the desperate urge for the toilet (bowl movement). At the same time i can actually hear as well as feel my stomach gurgling. In test results it showed that i had caught a bug (campylobacter) but i have since moved house and am unable to go back to my doctor. I was given a course of pills - but was told to stop taking them because they made me vomit. And i have done nothing since, but it has started to become more recurrent recently. Can i still have that, and would it still be active after all this time? Also, is it dangerous if it goes untreated?? Or is it likely to be another kind of irritation by a certain food type or something?
Sincerely, Laura

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Even though Campylobacter jejuni infection is self limiting, get your stool examined for this infection, along with other parasitic infections like ameobiasis or giardiasis. If this is ruled out then log in food intake to see if there is a connection between what you eat and the symptoms. Consult a gastroenterologist to rule out celiac, Crohn’s, IBS etc. Get liver, gall bladder and pancreatic function assessed.
Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.
Take care!
