Simvastatin and Terbinafine Side Effects?

IR2
I am a 250lb 64 yo male, 6'3"  tall and have high BP , well controlled by meds (below 130/90) for ten years now. I take vaso-dilator and diuretic. My cholesterol level is not too high but my GP has me on Simvastatin since February. I have also been onTerbi nafine since January

In the last month or so I have encountered pins and needles in my arms and legs - worse in the middle of the night;  an ache/twitch/Tnderness in my neck - mainly on the left side; digestion problems worse than usual (lot of wind and diarrhoea); great fatigue at times, and a strong feeling of unwellness at times. I also have various tender points on my ribs. Finally - my breasts have become very tender in recent weeks. I usually feel worse as the day goes on.

I have had rheumatoid arthritis for 17 years but it is well controlled by drugs and I have some allergies so I do have an over-active immune system.

Does anything in this story ring alarm bells with anyone?

Have you any thoughts on how long after stopping taking Terbinafine and  you would expect the side effects would start to ease off?

Many thanks

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Terbinafine could be the cause of your GI symptoms. Hence regulating its dose or changing the drug may help. Talk to your doctor regarding this.
Tingling, fatigue etc can be due to simvastatin. Talk to your doctor, and if your cholesterol is within normal range, lower the dose or stop and see if you feel well. However, please do not do any dose modifications on your own.
Other than this, it can be a compression of the spinal nerves in the cervical spine region. This can happen due to overuse of computers, work involving straining of neck, herniated disc, canal stenosis, bone disease, spondylosis, poor posture etc. A MRI of the cervical spine and nerve conduction studies may be required.
Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
