Strange stomach/bowel symptoms

This has been going on for a few weeks and seems to be getting worse.
Major symptoms: nausea (very bad in morning but feel it all day/night), haven't thrown up but constantly feel like I am going to, hot flashes when the nausea hits, body feels anxious 90% of day/night, feel very anxious (I do not know a better word to use to describe feeling- I feel like body is shaky and I can't sit still) when I am feeling the nausea, I feel this in the pit of my stomach near my bowel region, I feel almost like a tingling sweaty sensation that makes me feel like throwing up or defficating- this lasts pretty much all day/night.  It is very hard to describe.  I will be sitting on the couch and then feel nausea, followed by feeling hot, followed by the tingly bowel sensation...  then when the 'episode' is over I am generally freezing cold and my body shakes for a while due to the cold feeling.  Happens regardless of what/when I eat now.  I also have constant burping, like indigestion...  I always feel like I need to burp, but it's never anything big or relieving when I do.  I would love for this to stop and return to my normal life...  any advice or direction would be so appreciated.

With the burping- please be sure the GI doctors checks to make sure your gallbladder and duct work are okay.

A lot of what you describe sounds like you could be having panic attacks.  They can cause nausea, the feeling of needing to defecate, a shaking body, and anxiety amongst other things.  Besides taking major steps toward stress management if it turns out you are having panic attacks, ask the doctor to check your thyroid function to make sure that is normal.  You might ask about checking your cortisol level also.

Also, you are getting hot flashes when the nausea hits- some thoughts there- check your pulse rate to see if it is fast when the hot flash hits and check with your gyn if you think it is female hormone related.  (And could you be pregnant?)

If your pulse is fast, check your blood pressure with a home blood pressure monitor to see if it is very high- if it is, ask the doctor if they would rule out a rare catecholamine emitting tumor called a pheochromocytoma with a fasting plasma free metanephrines blood test.

Thank you Lizzie.  It is comforting to know that I am not alone, I too feel bad for the troubles you have had to deal with.  It's no fun being in pain.  Your comment actually did help me in many ways.  This is my first experience with these problems and it's good to have some references for when I make it to the doctor next week.  I appreciate you sharing with me.  Good luck with your troubles and thank you so much for your guidance/experience... it will help me and my doctor I am sure.  Much appreciated :)

Hi--I am sorry to hear about all your symptoms. I suffer from both Gastroparesis and acid reflux disease which are stomach problems that has nausea as a big time symptom. I had this condition on and off for 10 years. At first, I thought the nausea had nothing to do with food. Later about a couple years ago, I started seeing a gastroenterologist to find a diagnosis. She mentioned that I have a "slow stomach", which is Gastropareis, which means I have slow digestion and that the stomach doesn't work properly to have good digestion. Last year, I had a procedure done by my gastroenterologist and found out that I have acid reflux disease. So, for now, I am taking a medicine called Prilosec. You can get it with or without a prescription. I found it to be helpful and I recommend it. As for the bowl symptoms, I do have some irritating bowl symptoms too like constipation so I can sympathize with you. It's really hard to live in physical discomfort all the time. I pretty much have to distract myself. I too, have anxiety and I must do things like watch movies or just helping out another person who has the same problems or worse. It would be nice to be symptom free and never have to think about how bad I feel all the time. It's really disruptive every day. I hope I helped. I hope things get better for you. I understand what you are going through.
