Chronic Pain past six years is spreading

I have posted on another forum but wanted to see what you guys thought. I've had a chronic pain in my left shoulder area for the past six years.(I'm 18) Got physical therapy twice and it helps to a point but seems to return weather I continue with the exercises or not. My doctors have said or guessed rather that it is muscle spasms. I got x-rays and nothing showed, ortho said I was fine...but the pain ranges from throbbing, stabbing, sharp pain to dull, annoying, tingling pain. It was concentrated to my shoulder area but is now shooting into my lower left back and causing me to have issues walking/getting up ect.. so I'm realy at odds with my body. I'm very active, and healthy other than this. For reference I'm 5'1 and about 100 lbs. Previous injury I had though I snapped my colla bone left side and sat crooked for the duration of the healing and had surgery on it to curve the sharpness down from going through my skin. Let me know what you guys think, God Bless

You might consider trying a chiropractor.  I had a neck injury when I was a teenager, and though the initial injury healed, I had pain and muscle spasms for years afterward and one of my shoulders was higher than the other.  I finally went to a chiropractor and after about 3 visits, all of this was resolved.   Good luck!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
You should get nerve conduction studies done to rule out the possibility of a nerve getting impinged. Also you will need to rule out other causes such as hiatal hernia, GERD, spleen abscess, subdiaphragmatic abscess etc. The other possibility is muscle injury (either bicep or tricep), arthritis of shoulder joint, rotator cuff injury to shoulder joint, clots in the deep veins of the arm, abscess in the arm etc. However since you have had orthopedic consults chances of shoulder injury may have been ruled out. The old collar bone injury could be causing nerve impingement. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
