broke ribs

so 4 weeks ago i walked into a pipe that was at the level of my lowest rib and knocked the wind out of my self.  i have fractured ribs before so i knew a day latter it was a break of the floating rib.  well 2 weeks go by and i take a hard fall onto a 2 ft cocrete wall and landed on the same area.  now im pretty sure i have at least one if not 3 ribs broke, but thats not the problem.  as of last night when laying down for bed i had extreme pain, this lasted till this morning and almost went to the doctor but when i get up to walk around it seems better.  the pain is in my right side back  area of my ribs and the pain hasnt been this bad so whats the deal here.  can anything be done

so you don't mention why you have not been to a doctor to have x rays.
The biggest problem to watch out for with rib fx is whether a rib is displaced and poking into a lung.
As for pain,  I actually fractured a rib once.   The pain at night could be unbearable but it wasn't so bad during the day.  I think its easy to imagine how lying down on your back or side would affect a broken bone.  Because you are weight bearing on the fracture, the pressure itself and moving around in the bed can cause increased inflammation and pain.
Once you are cleared by an MD, you could try wrapping ace bandage or finding out how to tape the ribs to decreased movement at the fracture site.
