burning tongue

Hi

Could anyone please give me some advice. I think I may have burned my tongue on listerine or it could just be conincidence. Last week (thurs) I cleaned my mouth with listerine but think I held it too long in my mouth and my tongue was against it. On Friday I noticed that my tongue and lower lip inside the mouth were burning.

There are little tiny red dots that have appeared on the tip and round the outer edge of my tongue and my tongue feels like it is on fire or really burning.

Does anyone know what this is - could i have burned my mouth from a mouth wash and what is the best and quickest way to heal it. I am off to vegas on Sunday and really want to hit the bars and the buffets!

Any ideas or help is appreciated.

Thanks

Alan

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL

Hello,

You seem to have got an allergic reaction to the mouthwash. The sores that have appeared will take 5-7 days for complete healing.Till that time, avoid spicy or acidic foods. Also do warm saline swishes. It will help in reduction of swelling. You can also take over the counter antihistaminc like benadryl or Claritin to reduce the burning sensation. For the sores, you can use over the counter mouth ulcer gels.

Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
