A visit to the doctor is in order; it could be just vericose veins but could also circulatory or a clotting issue,

Sometimes our veins lose their elasticity.  They don't snap back the way they should.  If you spend a lot of time on your feet, you can get varicose veins.
You might want to try some support stockings or socks.  They are quite attractive nowadays - and some look like regular knee high socks.   These stockings are made with lycra to tighten around the veins and keep them from swelling too much.
As you get older, the veins will probably swell more and itch or hurt.
There are also ointments on the market as well as lotions that can shrink the veins - even Preparation H will work on them.
   Wishing you the best.
