Hello,

Causes of chest pain are many. It can be due to hypertension,Gastroesophageal reflux disease, disorders involving the lung like Pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, pneumothorax, Mediastinal emphysema etc;cardiac diseases, lung cancer, thoracic outlet syndrome, pancreatitis, gall bladder disease and muscle pain.

Does your chest ache along the edges of your breastbone, and does your pain get worse when you cough or take a deep breath? It can be COSTOCHONDRITIS, an inflammation of the joints in your chest. Costochondritis usually goes away on its own. Try an anti-inflammatory medicine to relieve the pain. Heat compresses may also help.

Do you have fullness and pain in the upper right side of your abdomen after eating a greasy or fatty meal, then it maybe a GALLBLADDER problem. If the discomfort is in your upper stomach, and gets worse when you lean forward or lie down, you may have a HIATAL HERNIA. This is a common problem in which the top of the stomach is pushed into the lower chest after eating. Eat smaller meals, and avoid fatty foods. Try an antacid or OTC medicines like prilosec or Zantac. Sleeping on 2 or 3 pillows or a foam wedge, or raising the head of your bed, may also help.

Sometimes smoking also produces chest pain.

Pls check these out when you consult a gastroenterologist/physician.

Take care and pls do keep posting on how you are doing.

Just wondering..Have you been evaluated for a hiatal hernia or gall bladder problems? Both of these can cause the symptoms you describe...I don't know what your age, weight and physical condition are, but if, at any time you should experience profound fatigue, shortness of breath, cold sweats, and/ or dizziness with the chest tightness or pains, you should be seen immediately...Usually, if the patient feels there's "something wrong", they're usually correct...heart-related chest pain usually can't be reproduced by muscle flexing...Have you seen a GI Dr and had an endoscopy or swallowing studies done? This may give you more answers...Good luck...sometimes the not knowing is worse than the actual problem itself...                                                  ~MM
