lump behind right ear

My daughter has a lump behind her right ear about the size of a dime.  When I first notice the lump, it was smaller than a pencil eraser.  There is some discomfort when the area is touched at times, and sometimes there is more swelling. She has complained with ear aches as well as headaches for 4+ months now and I have repeatedly taken her to the doctor.  Ever visit, the doctor has said that her ear is healthy and normal.  She's not had any injuries, and no colds or anything like that in 6+ months.  Another trip to the doctor today as it increased in size.  When asked what it was, no answer was given.  They have requested an ultrasound of the area as well as blood work.  What does this mean?

Thank you,
A worried mom

My dad used to get cysts behind his ear.  Painful, but not dangerous.  Hopefully the ultrasound will show nothing bad.

try to appy warm compress in the area for 5-15 minutes then rest for 5-15 minutes then warm compress again..  observe what happened to the lump.. then consult a another physician for further examination...
