Ongoing stomach bug/gastric discomfort

How common is it for a stomach bug to linger?  I had a nasty stomach bug beginning on March 15th and have tried to be really careful to eat simply - but keep upsetting my stomach and going back to square one with diarrhea, nausea etc.

Do I need to go and get checked out or do I just need more time to feel right again?

Thank you so much. I did begin taking probiotics (non-dairy) a couple of days ago.  Never had lactose intolerance before but that's something I am suspecting too.  Can there be such a thing as intermittant lactose intolerance???  Never had a problem with dairy before -

I do feel better every day but still not right. How long should I stay on this strict diet (steamed rice, soft veggies, etc).  Want to be sure not to set this off again!!!

Appreciate your expertise

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Yes, if you are not feeling well still, either a mild strain of infection is persisting, or the normal gut flora has not improved (taking probiotics will help with this) or there is severe acidity. If treating these does not help then possibility of a food intolerance like celiac, lactose etc or IBS will need to be looked at.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.
Take care!
