What Is Going On?

I'm always tired, no matter how much sleep i get. I will sleep for nine hours then wake up for two hours then take a three hour nap. During school i will fall asleep, i try my hardest to stay awake but i fall asleep. I always have constant headaches that always makes me cry and unable to pay attention. It feels like someone is hammering on my skull. I also often have hard troubles listening and tune in and out of attention. When people talk to me, i can hear them but words don't exist and i just end up looking at them. I can never sit still. When i get home my family always ask how was school? my same answer is..I don't remember, I'm not sure why i can't remember but trying to remember my school day is always the hardest task of my day. I tell my parents what's been going on for the past year and they tell me i just need to try harder to pay attention. What is going on?

Ask a parent to make an appointment to take you to see the doctor so that you can explain to the doctor what is going on.

You may be suffering from anaemia, which is a lack of iron in the body, like maileeshar says.  Anaemia is lack of red corpuscles in the body that carry oxygen to the different parts of the body and brain.

If you are not eating right and just eating junk food and drinking fizzy drinks, your body is not getting the right nutrients, minerals and vitamins.  You need to eat a healthy and well balanced diet that contains, meat, fish, vegetables and fruit.  Cereals are fortified with vitamins and iron.

Diabetes can made you feel very sleepy if you are eating too much sugary foods and a condition called narcolepsy is a neurological disorder that needs to be considered if your blood test comes back normal.

Dehydration (not drinking enough) will also make you feel tired and have headaches.

Make sure you eat healthily and drink plenty of water, 2-3 litres per day is usually recommended.  Cut out all junk foods and fizzy drinks.

Also if you have a school nurse, have a chat with her to talk about your problems.  I am surprised that the class teacher has not noticed you falling asleep and have not contacted your parents about this.  No doubt it is affecting your school work.

Your doctor will probably take a blood test to see if there are any deficiencies or abnormalities.

Let us know how you get on.

Best wishes.

it sounds to me like you may have a few disorders that a doctor needs to tend to.
